I rose to the title of the article; how could identity politics enter into the discussion of weather.  it is actually a Darwinian moment.  Let's thin about this for a second, your house floods everytime there is a hurricane?  Maybe it's time to move to some higher ground unless you want to drown, not hard to do in the United States.
