You have to appreicate the idealism of the young but you have to ask yourself if being a news star now is worth not graduating.  He will learn that he is not the centre of the universe and no-one cares whether he goes back to school or not, certainly not CNN.

No 14: Typewriter of the Day - 1966 Olympia SM9

No. 14: TOTD - Olympia SM9 1966 Version

I have collected a lot of Olympias, as you will see with typewriter of the day.  Her is a 1966 model which came with the cleaning kit and the manual pamphlet.  I haven't tried this one lately but it has been overhauled and is ready to come into service.  I love the tab keys on the ends of the space bar. Enjoy.

Scott Adams is one of the best psychologists of our time.  Too bad more people don't pay attention to what he has to say.

Here is Pat Condell's latest You Tube video.  He is so right but it makes me so depressed.  I think we are doomed.

No 13: Typewriter of the Day - Remington Letter-Riter DeLuxe

TOTD No. 13 - Remington Letter-Riter Deluxe

I love these Remingtons, They sold millions of them over the years and the used market gives them very little value.  That is nice for me, I picked up several of them at very low prices and at the same time very well preserved.  The machines are robust to say the least and cases are very well made.  The Letter-Riter has been on the shelf for a while and could do with an overhaul and a new ribbon.  I probably will not get around to it in my lifetime but regardless I like having this machine.  Letter-Riters are a smaller and lighter version of the ubiquitous Quiet-Riter the flagship machine.  They lack the magic margin/tab system but at the same time won't pull your arm out carrying them.  Here is a picture:

This has to be a joke.  First of all who cares what the bond rating agencies say - they were the people that rated the sub prime mortgages so highly.  Secondly what are cities really gong to do about climate change?  You have to be living in gaga land if you think cities are anything be price takers when it comes to what happens in nature.  Cities can't run away from hurricanes.
