The sly side of these taxes and levies to restrict energy use is that they also represent new streams of taxation and fees for city coffers.  Alberta for instance doesn't have a sales tax but it managed to get a very regressive carbon tax implemented which will benefit the general revenue enormously.  Similar with cities  and their increases to tipping fees, parking costs etc.

Its nice to see Europe get a little cold snap as the world continues to warm (spring).  The article does bring up a couple of good points.  First, cold is a much bigger killer then warmth especially now with the poor suffering from energy impoverishment.  Secondly, we have to understand, despite all of the drama that it is just weather so deal with it.

No 9 Typewriter of the Day: Facit TP2

TOTD:  My Facit TP2

Eutac, the gentleman who repairs all of my typewriters now and the last tech in Calgary that repairs typewriters was a Facit tech when he was younger.  He was the deciding force in turning me onto the Facit machines.  This typewriter I keep at my desk in Calgary and use when I need some creative juice.  I understand how he would like them, the machines are all metal, made of Swedish steel.  the carriage slides on a ball bearings riding on a Steel shaft rather then rails which makes it very smooth and very strong.  the touch is excellent and snappy so it suits my liking.  Enjoy the picture.
