Russia To Ban Fertilizer Exports To 'Not Friendly' Countries; China Warns US Against Retaliation

I know a lot of you thought that is was pretty cool that McDonalds and Coke announced that they were going to punish the Russian people by removing themselves from the market.  Everyone in the chattering class supports economic punishment of evil Russia.  Since Russia does not have an indigenous burger or pop business you can really make them suffer for the invasion of Ukraine.   Unfortunately, the problem of a woke economic fight between multi-national do-gooders and a sovereign state is that it escalates.  Pepsi is not pushing around a little sandlot in the middle east.  Russia, as we all know, is a MAJOR producer of raw materials that the Western World needs.  Russia's threat to embargo the export of fertilizer and other agricultural products is a very serious response.  

Feeding the world is the highest level of concern. Famine is the ultimate disrupter of civilization.  Everyone got worked up with the Corona Virus, a disease that killed less people in British Columbia since 2020 the Fentanyl.  Something to think about? How much disruption did Corona virus cause?

Now, we are threatening to disrupt world wide food production.  It was only 50 years ago that we thought famine would be the end of the world, now we are going to see if it is.  The problem was just under the horizon last year with high input costs making food more expensive.  Ammonia was up to $2000/ton from $200 is a classic example.  Do you think the subsistence farmers of the world can afford this disruption?  We will have to see what happens.
