No 47 - Typewriter of the Day: Olympia Traveller

No.47 - TOTD: Olympia Traveller

I had to get one even though the shape never appealed to me nor the fact that production of the SF Models had moved to Yugoslavia.  I also can't remember when I bought it.  Other then being a tad dirty it is in perfect shape.  One thing about it is that the ase is fantastic and this really helps a typewriter survive since that's where they live most of the time.

and thanks to Richard Polt's site we have a writer, Julio Cortazar from Argentina.  If you would like to see his works follow the link to Amazon..  An interesting man and a prolific writer.

No 46: Typewriter of the Day - Underwood Quiet Deluxe

No 46: TOTD - Underwood Quiet Deluxe

This machine was one of the first typewriters I bought from Ossie  at Starline.  He was doing my overhauls for me and he started offering machines for sale. I thought it would help to give him a little trade, the typewriter service business was in decline even then and I couldn't resist the machine, it was something I could use and it seemed to be is good shape, not to much wear with the exception of some keys that were a little abraded by someones nails.  The price was right, the age was in my sweet spot and it is now part of my permanent collection.  I only have two Underwoods that are original Underwood machines as compared to Olivetti Underwoods which have Olivetti guts.

What is nice about the machine? It has the feel I like - snappy and quick, wear is minimal, construction is all metal and quality and it remains a useful machine to this day.  I will use it more in the future.  Here is a picture:
