It's fun to wreck and burn things?  Of course it is a big turn-on for modern kids with nothing else to do and who don't care about anything other then themselves.  No one can tell you they think about the environment never mind care for it. 



Surround them with a press that "wants to make a difference" and you get your "Rock Stars".  Luckily they are only wrecking things in places like Seattle and Berkeley.
